420年以上の伝統を誇り、日本三大火祭りに数えられる祭事。長さ10メートル、重さ3トンもある大松明を150人の男達が担ぎ出し、街を練り歩いた後、会場となる日本都市公園百選のひとつに選ばれている福島県の翠ヶ丘公園内で行われる。巨大な松明約２５本に次々と火がともされ、炎で夜空を赤く染める。

With a tradition of over 420 years, it is known as one of the Japan's top 3 fire festivals. A torch with a length of 10 meters and a weight of 3 tons is carried by 150 men, and is paraded around town, where the final destination is Fukushima's Midorigaoka Park, known as one of Japan’s 100 chosen city parks. 25 large torches are lit up one by one, lighting up the night sky with a red glow.
