秋田藩佐竹南家に京都からおこし入れになられたお嬢様のために、京への郷愁を五色の短冊に託し青竹に飾りつけたのが始まりとされた、約300年の歴史ある祭り。浮世絵や美人画が描かれた大小数百の絵どうろうが、夕やみの夜空を艶やかに彩ります。

About 300 years historic festival started for the Princess who came to Akita-Han Satakeminami Family from Kyoto for marriage. With nostalgic feelings for Kyoto, they decorated young bamboo with 5 colored stripped papers. Various sizes of hundreds of Ukiyoe and portraits of beautiful women bright up night sky.
