7日（木）の夕方から8日（金）の朝まで、夜を徹して三十三番の神事が行われる湯立神楽。巫女が緋色の舞衣に天冠のいでたちで舞う「天道舞」「保呂羽山舞」では、舞の途中で託宣（神の言葉）を告げる場面があり、巫女の原型を今に伝えます。夜半には「山之神舞」「神入舞」が舞われ、神前の釜の湯を笹で参詣者に振り掛ける場面で最高潮に達します。近郷の神官が集まって行う寄合神楽の形式を残す、伊勢系の神楽でもあります。参観者は初穂料を包むのが一般的です。
