おくのほそ道天童紅花まつりは松尾芭蕉が天童の地を訪れ、「まゆはきを俤にして紅粉の花」と「行く末は誰が肌ふれん紅の花」と詠んだことに由来したお祭りです。天童の紅花が、上貫津の紅花畑に咲き誇り、約７万本の紅花が満開を迎えると、紅花畑一面が鮮やかな黄色に染まります。
期間内の土日にはイベントも行われ、紅花の撮影会や紅花摘みの体験などができます。

Okuno Hosomichi Tendo Safflower Festival started after Basho Matsuo visited Tendo, and made a poem. Tendo safflowers bloom at Nukuzu safflower field and when seventy thousands safflowers fully bloom, the the color of field changes to bright yellow.
During the weekend of festival period, you can experience safflower photo session, and flower picking.
