毎年12月14日に行われる、400年以上の歴史と伝統がある縁結びのお祭り。花嫁の島田の髷をかたどった飴細工「島田飴」は、この祭りでのみ手に入れることができ、翌年に良縁に恵まれるという言伝えがある。島田飴は毎年1500個作られ、販売２時間前には行列ができ、わずか30分で完売したこともある。祭り当日は、花嫁姿の女性が吉岡八幡神社へ島田飴を奉納するため街を練り歩くセレモニーが行われる。

With the history and tradition of over 400 years, this matchmaking festival is held on December 14 every year. "Shimada candy" which is in shape of bride's Shimada chignon, is sold only for the festival, and it is told that if you get this candy, you can find good match next year. 1500 Shimada candies are made every year, a long waiting line is made 2 hours before selling. There was a year when all the candies were sold out within 30 minutes. On the day of the festival, women dressed in wedding kimono come perform a parade ceremony to go to the Yoshioka Hachiman Shrine to dedicate the Shimadaame.
