大晦日から元旦にかけて行われる羽黒山の代表的な祭りで、100日間参籠し、精進潔斎した2人の山伏がどちらが神意にかなったかを競い合う験競べが祭りの中心です。
大晦日昼頃から元旦未明にかけて合祭殿内や鏡池前広場、補屋などで、烏跳び、国分神事など、様々の神事が行われます。

Hagurosan's representative festival, held from New Year's Eve to New Year's Day. The festival centers on a contest between two mountain priests who have spent 100 days in the shrine and have performed ascetic rituals to see who has fulfilled the will of the gods.
From around noon on New Year's Eve to dawn on New Year's Day, various rituals such as the Karasu-jyubi (jumping the crow) and the Kokubu ritual are held in the shrine hall, the plaza in front of Kagamiike, and in the auxiliary house.
