秋田県三大盆踊りの一つに数えられる毛馬内盆踊りは、かがり火を囲んで踊る輪踊りで、常に内側を向いて優雅に踊るのが特徴です。毛馬内盆踊りは情緒豊かで、これまでの変遷過程を示す貴重でかつ地域的特色が顕著な盆踊りとして平成10年、国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定されています。

The Kenmanai Bon Dance is known as one of Akita's three great bon dances. They surround the bonfire and dance, with a characteristic of facing in while dancing. The Kemanai Bon Dance is rich in emotions, and was registered as a Nationally Important Intangible Folk-cultural Property in 1998 for its locally distinguished uniqueness.
