花笠童子を先頭に、太鼓台や稚児、御輿に続き、一般公募で集まった未婚の女性たちが日本情緒豊かな丸まげと着物姿で華やかな行列を作り、お旅所から中心商店街を通り、千手寺まで練り歩きます。千手寺に到着すると、観音堂へ入りお参りした後、境内に出て護摩法要が行われます。この「まるまげ祭り」は、かつて幸せな結婚を願った芸妓たちが、年に一度の休日に、人妻を象徴する「丸まげ」を結い、市内の千手寺（幸町）の観音様に願かけをしたのが由来と伝えられています。

Children with hat adorned with flowers lead the brilliant parade followed by floats carrying drums and children, Mikoshi, unmarried women with special Japanese style Maru Mage hair style in kimono who are chosen from the public, parade from otabisho to Senjuji Temple via center shopping street. After the arrival to Senjuji Temple, they pray and the Goma ritual takes place in the grounds. It is told that, "Marumage Festival" came from Geisha girls who wished for happy marriage came to visit Senjuji Temple (Saiwai-cho) in the town with "Marumage" hair style symbolizing the married women to pray to the goddess on the only day off in the year.
