福井フェニックスまつりは戦災、震災、水害、雪害など多くの苦難を乗り越えてきた福井市を「不死鳥（＝フェニックス）」に例えて行われています。
民謡・YOSAKOIイッチョライや100万人のためのマーチング、福井フェニックス花火などが行われます。花火は全国でも珍しい、街中で見られる花火として親しまれています。

The Fukui Phoenix Festival is to celebrate the many hardships like war, earthquakes, flood, and snow damage, that the city has endured over the years, and how like a phoenix, it always comes back.
The Fukui Phoenix fireworks is popluar as a rare fireworks that could be seen inside the town.
