鶴仙渓にさわやかな風が吹き抜ける初秋の頃、山中温泉最大のイベントである「こいこい祭」が2日間にわたって開催されます。
ふだんは落ち着いた湯のまちも、この時ばかりは華やかさにあふれ、民謡山中節のふるさとにふさわしく、町民、芸妓衆、接待衆に浴客も加わって、唄と踊りの一大絵巻が展開されます。
また、昼には掛け声も勇ましい湯女みこしや若衆みこし、大獅子の巡行なども行われ、初秋の山中はお祭り気分一色に彩られます。

Yamanaka Onsen's largest event, Koikoi Festival is held for two days during the season that a very refreshing winds blows through the Kakusen gorge.
While usually a very peaceful hot springs town, during the even it becomes very lively, filled with folk songs of Setsu Yamanaka just right for where it was founded, and the locals, performers, attendants, and spectators come and all take part in the songs and dance.
And, during the day, you can hear the women carrying the mikoshi, and youth carrying mikoshi, along with the large Shishi parading around, with a feeling of early autumn festivities among the mountains.
