江戸時代の「享保・天明・天保」の大飢饉で亡くなった御霊を供養するため、二百数十年前、屋形舟を蛇の崎川原に流したのが始まりといわれています。男衆に担がれた屋形舟は「さいさい囃子」にのって蛇の崎川原に向かい、舟と舟がもみ合いながらクライマックスへと続きます。また、音楽に合わせた花火ショーや打ち上げ花火も見応えがあります。

A festival with a memorial service for those who died in the great Edo famine periods of Kyoho, Tenmei and Tenpo years. The festival is said to have started over 200 years ago when a Yakata boat was floated ashore by Jyanosakikawara. The climax of the festival is where many yakata boats are carried by men dancing the Saisai dance towards Jyanosakibashi riverside and clash into each other. Again, a fireworks show event that collaborates fireworks and music, and a skyrocket firework show can be enjoyed.
