庄内三大まつりの一つ。その昔、椙尾神社の裏山に棲む化け物（ムジナ）を退治したメッケ犬に由来する300年の歴史をもつ祭りです。メッケ犬を象った犬みこしや、化け物に捧げたという仮女房を乗せた行列が古式ゆかしく練り歩き、華やかな「からぐり山車」が繰り出します。
