江戸時代の宿場町の雰囲気を今に残す、国重要伝統的建造物群保存地区・下郷町大内宿。この美しい集落で、毎年7月2日の半夏（はんげ）の日に、古式ゆかしい伝統行事・「大内宿半夏祭り」が行われる。後白河天皇の第2皇子・高倉以仁王（もちひとおう）の霊を祀った「高倉神社」の祭礼。神社で神事を行った後、白装束に黒烏帽子（えぼし）姿の村の男衆らが、神輿を中心に粛々と行列をつくり、家内安全、五穀豊穣を祈願する。
