この時代祭は葵祭、祇園祭とともに京都三大祭の一つとして知られ、国内はもとより海外からの参観者も多く、 沿道には豊かな国際色が見受けられます。山国隊の奏する笛、太鼓の音色を先頭に約2,000名・約２キロにわたる 行列は順次、平安京の造営された延暦時代にさかのぼり、私どもの心に過ぎ去った京都の歴史をしのばせます。

This Jidai Festival considered as one of the Kyoto Three Grand Festival along with the Aoi Festival and Gion Festival. Many foreigners visit as well as people from within country, and paints a very rich international feel in the streets. The flute performance by the Yamagunitai, a parade of about 2 km long with 2000 participants lead by the sounds of the taiko drums. Really brings out the feeling of historic Kyoto in our hearts by reenacting Heiankyo which was built during the Enryaku Period.
