くらげ退治と海難防止、併せて豊漁を祈願して約300年程前から行われるようになった火祭り。魚型の万灯籠に神火を点火し、川の中に立てた後、ぐるぐると回転させる。
京都府登録無形民俗文化財に登録されている。

This fire festival is to pray for jellyfish extermination, marine conservation, and good fish harvests which started around 300 years ago. Fish shaped lanterns are lit and spun around and around after being place on the surface of the river. It has been registered as an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Kyoto.
