県の無形民俗文化財に指定されている「ほうらんや火祭」
町内の5地区と隣接する古川町の6つの地区から奉納された大小あわせて16個の大松明に火をつけて八幡神社（東坊城町）と春日神社（東坊城町）の境内を担ぎ回る勇壮でにぎやかなお祭。無病息災や虫送りや雨乞いの行事。

The Horanya Fire Festival has been designated as an Intangible Folk Culture Heritage of the prefecture. It is a lively and powerful festival where 16 giant and small torches, collected from the 5 town districts and 6 districts from Furukawa-cho, are lit and paraded through Hachiman Shrine and the Kasuga Shrine (in the town of Higashibojo-cho). The festival is held for good health, no disasters, to drive away pests and to bring the rain.
