鳥取方言で「大きい」を意味する「がいな」の名前がつけられた夏祭りです。
ＪＲ米子駅前を中心に「大パレード」、「がいな太鼓」、「がいな万灯」、「やんちゃばやし」、「花火大会」、など各種行事や、市内の各広場で多くのイベントが催されます。

This summer festival is called the Gaina Festival because in the Tottori dialect “gaina” means “large”. This festival has all kinds of events across the town centering JR Yonago Station including a large parade, the gaina drums, gaina mando lanterns, yancha-bayashi (flute) accompaniments, and a large fireworks display.
