亘理町の夏の風物詩「わたりふるさと夏まつり」では５山車と踊りのミニパレードのほか、追悼供養行事（灯篭流し）が行われます。また、鳥の海湾周辺では約2500発もの花火が打ち上げられ、湾内での水中花火は腹底まで響きわたる迫力満点なものとなっています。大輪の花々が夏の夜空を彩り、お祭りを盛り上げます。

The Watari Furusato Summer Festival is a summer tradition in the town where 5 floats with dancers have a mini-parade, along with the memorial event of floating paper lanterns down the river. Over 2,500 fireworks then light up the sky around Torinoumi Bay.
