八戸三社大祭は、おがみ神社が神輿行列を仕立て、現在の長者山新羅神社まで練り歩いたことに始まります。現在の八戸三社大祭は、行列の運行経路や参加する民俗芸能など伝統を保ちつつも、民話や歌舞伎などを題材として製作された27台の山車が祭りの余興「附祭」として参加し、祭りをより華やかで迫力のあるものにしています。
また、ライトアップされた山車が夜空に浮かび上がる夜の運行では、昼とはまた違った雰囲気を楽しむことができます。

The Hachinohe Sansha Taisai is a festival where 27 floats based on folklore or kabuki plays parade down the streets, turning the festival into a powerful and colorful spectacle.
The floats then light up and parade around town again at night, creating a completely different atmosphere from the day.
