中津市伊藤田の古要神社で３年ごとの１０月１２日に行われている神事芸能です。傀儡子と呼ばれる繰り人形による舞と相撲が行われます。拝殿に幕を張って舞台とし、はじめに古要楽と称する静かな傀儡子の舞を催します。その後東西より各々１２体の相撲人形が登場して相撲をとります。国指定重要無形民俗文化財となっています。

It is a ritualistic entertainment held once every three years on October 12 at the Koyo Shrine in Idoda, Nakatsu-shi. There are a sumo wrestling and a dance which is performed with a puppet called Kugutsushi. The worshiping hall is turned into a stage with curtains, and first starts with a quiet dance by the Kugutsushi called the Koyo Dance. Afterwards, 12 sumo puppets come out from each of the East and West sides to wrestle sumo. It is registered as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.
