もともとは長崎新地中華街の人たちが中国の旧正月（春節）を祝う行事だった長崎ランタンフェスティバル。1994年に規模を拡大してから、長崎の冬の一大風物詩として全国的にその名が知られるようとなりました。15日間の期間中、街中に飾られる約1万5000個の極彩色のランタン（中国提灯）と、各会場の大小さまざまなオブジェたちが一帯を幻想的に彩り、訪れる100万超の人々の心を深く魅了します。

Nagasaki Lantern Festival was originally an event to celebrate Chinese lunar New Year (spring festival) for people in Nagasaki Shinchi China town.
Since the expansion plan in 1994, it has become a nationally known large winter tradition in Nagasaki.
15,000 brilliant color lanterns (Chinese lanterns) decorated all over the town and various sized objects at every sites color the entire region majestically and attract over 1,000,000 visitors deeply during the 15 days of festival.
