佐原の大祭夏祭り

関東三大祭りの一つで、二層構造の山車の上に、歴史上の人物の大人形や藁を用いて製作した大きな飾り物を飾り付け、「佐原囃子」を演奏する下座連を乗せ、奏でながら町内衆により曳き回される。また、山車の前では手古舞の流れをくむ手踊りが披露される。
市街地を流れる小野川をはさみ東側を本宿（ほんじゅく）、西側を新宿（しんじゅく）と呼び、それぞれ別々に祭りが行われる。
One of Kanto’s 3 largest festivals, large dolls of historic figures are made and sit on top of two-tiered floats, while Sawara hayashi musicians ride the floats playing, as the floats are pulled by locals. The festival dance tekomai is performed to announce the on-coming float.
The town of Honjuku is to the east of the Onogawa River, its festival is separate from Shinjuku’s on the west of the river.
