鶴岡八幡宮で３日間に渡って行われる祭事で、文治3年に放生会と流鏑馬が行われたと『吾妻鏡』に記されている。15日には、県重要文化財である神輿を担ぎ、それに神馬、錦旗、鉾、太刀などの威厳物を持つ所役が従う神幸祭が行われ、16日は、鎌倉武士さながらの流鏑馬が奉納される。

It is a festival held for three days at the Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine, and is written in the Azuma Kagami historical document that a Houjoue and Yabusame were held in the year 1187. The Mikoshi which is an Important Cultural Property of the Prefecture is carried on the 15th, along with the Shinkousai transferring important artifacts, and on the 16th, a Yabusame, just like when the Kamakura period warriors are performing it, and is dedicated to the festival.
