北海へそ祭りは珍奇絶妙な図腹踊りが特徴。これは「祭りにはユニークさが必要だ。へそを活かした踊りをやろう」と、すずらん商店街の皆さんが考え出したものです。当初は踊り手を探すのに苦労したが、今では4千人の踊り手と7万人の観光客で賑わいます。夏の北海道を代表する祭りです。
The North Sea Belly Button Festival is distinctive for its funny belly dance. People of Suzuran shopping street have came up with this festival idea, saying “Festival requires uniqueness. Let’s have a dance using a belly button.” When they started, they had a hard time looking for dancers, but now the festival makes a crowed of four thousands dancers and seven thousands tourists. The festival has become a representative of summer Hokkaido.
