スケートのまち・苫小牧を代表する冬のイベントが「とまこまいスケートまつり」。「スケートボブスレー」や「「ジャンボすべり台」などのアトラクションや、ステージイベントなど様々なプログラムが用意されています。中でも人気なのが名物「しばれ焼き」です。同大会の雪像やリンクを作る自衛隊員の労をねぎらうためにドラム缶の上で焼いたジンギスカンが非常に味わい深かった、ということから始まったというメニュー。極寒の空気の中で白い湯気を上げながら豪快に食すジンギスカンは最高ですよ。
