江戸時代から続く山梨県の夏の風物詩「南部の火祭り」。
盆の送り火と川供養、さらに稲を病害虫から守るための虫送りの意味も込められています。
「投松明」「百八たい」「大松明」「灯篭流し」といった火を用いた催しと、祭を締めくくる花火が夜の南部町を明るく照らします。

The Nanbu Fire Festival is Yamanashi's symbol of summer since the Edo Period.
With a Bon bonfire, the purpose of the festival is a memorial service for those that drowned, and for the insects that protect the rice paddy from pests and insects carrying diseases.
Many events which involve fire, such as the torch throw, Hyakuhattai bonfire, the large torch, Touro nagashi (lantern flow) are held, with the fireworks closing the festival while lighting up the Nanbu-cho night sky.
