塩竈みなと祭は、終戦直後の混乱が鎮静化の兆しを見せ始めた昭和23年、港町塩竈の産業復興と疲れきった市民の元気快復を願って始められたお祭です。
陸奥国一之宮鹽竈神社のお神輿を、御座船「鳳凰丸」に奉安し、日本三景の松島湾内を渡御します。百隻に及ぶ大小の供奉船を従えてご巡幸される姿は、さながら平安絵巻を見るようです。
Shiogama Port Festival started immediately after the end of World War II in 1948, hoping the healthy recovery of citizens and industrial revival of Shiogama port town.
How the emperor progressed with the followers of big and small hundred vessels, seems just like looking at the Heian picture scroll.
