五穀豊穣・家内安全・畜産奨励・厄払いを祈願する祭りとして約460年以上の歴史と伝統を誇っており、当日は県内外から多くの観客が訪れます。
また、20数頭からなる奉納馬と2千人の踊り手の出演で終日賑わいを見せています。
馬の背中に飾りをつけ、首には鈴をつけた「鈴かけ馬」が踊り連を引き連れて太鼓や三味線にあわせ、マンボのように踊る全国でも珍しい祭りです。

It is a festival with a history and traditions of over 460 year to pray for the productiveness of grain, safety of families, encouragement of stock farming, and driving out a devil sprit, and many spectators visit from inside and outside the prefecture on the day.
Over 20 dedicated horses and 2000 dancers take part, and the festival is packed with visitors all day.
It is the rare festival in the nation because "suzukake Uma" that are horses with decorations on their backs and bells around the necks lead dancing groups and dance like the mambo to drums and shamisen.
