鹿島踊りは、吉浜と鍛冶屋の２か所のみで踊られている。 疫病の送り払い、大漁と豊作、湯河原地方特有の産業である石材産出の無事とそれを輸送する海上安全祈願するためのもので、踊手は、白丁を着て烏帽子をかぶった土地の青年25名。その構成は、太鼓役１、鉦役２、黄金柄杓役１、日形役１、月形役１、他の19 名は踊りのみとなっています。吉浜素鵞神社の鹿島踊りはこの地方独特の形態をした踊りで、古い形を比較的良好な状態で今に継承されているもので、それは全国でも珍しいものです。
