関東地方の夏祭りとしては有数の規模を誇り、関東三大七夕祭りの1つに挙げられる。
開催期間は、茂原駅の周辺商店街が七夕飾りで埋め尽くされ、七夕飾りはコンテストも行われる。
イベント会場では「もばら阿波おどり」、「YOSAKOI鳴子おどり」や「七夕おどり」などが開催され、ミニコンサートも行われている。

This festival boasts being the largest summer festival in Kanto region, and is one of the three largest Tanabata Festivals in the Kanto region.
The festival opens with the neighborhood shopping district and Mobara Station being filled with Tanabata decorations, a sight to see when everyone is competing in the Tanabata decorations competition.
Events include Mobara Awa Dances, Yosaki Naruko Dances, and Tanabata Dances, and even a mini-concert.
