続3昼夜にわたって万葉集全20巻をリレー方式でうたい継ぐ、秋の高岡を燃え上がらせるビッグイベントです。
わが国最古の歌集「万葉集」の代表的歌人である大伴家持が、奈良時代に国守として在任していたことから、高岡市は「万葉のふるさとづくり」に取り組んでいます。その代表的な行事が「高岡万葉まつり」です。

A grand autumn event in Takaoka CIty where, for three days and three nights, all 20 of the Manyoshu poems are read out in a relay form.
Takaoka City has worked on making the city the home of Manyo, since Otomo no Yakamochi, who was assigned to be protector during the Nara period, was one of the major poets of the oldest collection of poetry in Japan called the Manyoshu. And the Takaoka Manyo Festival event represents this event.
