北陸随一のイベント『敦賀まつり』。市民総参加のもと、みこしや勇壮な6基の山車が市内を練り歩きます。趣向を凝らしたおまつり広場やカーニバル大行進、民謡踊りの夕べも見もの。街はまさに祭り一色に染まります。
「氣比神宮例大祭」は９月２日宵宮祭、３日神幸祭、４日例大祭、５日より１０日迄後祭、１５日の月次祭を以って終わるので氣比の長祭として有名です。境内外には露天興業が軒を列ね、練山引山が出され、期間中は市内各種団体の神賑奉納行事があり北陸一帯はもとより、京都、大阪、滋賀、愛知等、各府県からの参拝者頗る多く、北陸の歴史的年中行事として著名です。３日の神幸祭には御鳳輦をはじめ氏子各町の神輿が市中を巡幸渡御になり市内一円は各種行事で賑わい例祭気分が味わえます。
Tsuruga Festival is the biggest event in the Hokuriku Region. With the whole of town participating, Mikoshis and 6 floats parade through town. The festival square filled with variety, such as a carnival parade, and folk dance evening, it is surely a must see. The whole of town is filled in festivities.
Many stalls line inside the grounds, the Neriyamahikiyama float is brought out. During the festival, various local groups come for the dedicatory rituals, and many worshipers gather from around the nation and not just the Hokuriku region, such as Kyoto, Osaka, Shiga, Aichi, etc. It is a well-known annual Hokuriku region event.
