二年に一度開催されるこの行事の発祥は戦国時代の緊急連絡用の狼煙が起源とされています。竹竿を結んだ花火は「龍勢」と呼ばれ、点火後に空高く打ち上がります。13の龍勢連ごとに伝承される特殊な技法によりそれぞれの龍勢が製作されています。

It is said that the origins of this event that is held once in two years go back to the Feudal Period, where smoke was used as an emergency communication tool. The fireworks with bamboo poles tied to them are called Ryusei, and are shot up high into the air after being lit. Each of the 13 Ryuseiren are made in a specific method, all in a different way which has been pass down for years.
