小町まつりは、古くから芍薬塚(小町塚)で行われます。開催日は、芍薬の花香る六月第二日曜日。まつりは祝詞奉上に始まり、巫女舞で神前を清め、小町の魂をなぐさめる謡曲が歌われるうちに市内から選び抜かれた七人の小町娘が登場し、小野小町が作った和歌を朗詠し小町堂に奉納します。

Komachi Festival is held on Shakuyaku zuka (Komachi zuka) for a very long time. It is held on the second Sunday of June when Shakuyaku (peony) smells sweet. The festival startｓ with Shinto prayer, sanctifying altar by Miko, and through dances and songs they console the soul of Komachi. 7 chosen young Komachi women come out to dedicate Tanka poetries made by Ono no Komachi to Komachido.
