秩父の総社、秩父神社の例大祭で、京都の祇園祭や飛騨の高山祭とともに「日本三大曳山祭り」に数えられる。開催期間中の2日、3日がそれぞれ宵宮、大祭となっている。絢爛豪華な２台の笠鉾と４台の屋台が街を練り歩き、出店やたくさんの人々で賑わう。夜には、２には7000発もの花火が打ち上げられる。
Chichibu's Soja, Chichibu Shrine's annual festival is one of the "Japan's Three Grand Hikiyama Festival" along with Gion Festival in Kyoto and Takayama Festival in Hida. December 2 is festival-eve vigil and December 3 is the grand festival. 2 splendid Kasaboko and 4 floats parade through the town where stalls and many people are. 7000 fireworks are set off at night.
