寄居玉淀水天宮祭は関東一の水祭りと呼ばれており、天然の名勝地『玉淀』に、各町内からボンボリ、提灯で美しく飾りたてた舟山車が数隻参加し、城山をバックに打ち上げられる大花火と川面に生える万灯の饗宴が魅力。
昭和6年、玉淀を開発した保勝会の有志が、玉淀の景勝に加え神社を勧請して祭事を行うことを発願し、幸い下流樋の下の河辺山林にあった石宮を発見しました。調べたところ、この地方の漁師が水難よけに祭った水神様であることを知り、改めて水神様と水天宮様を合祀したことにより始まりました。

The Yorii Tamayado Suitengu Shrine Festival is known as one of Kanto’s water festivals. Tamayado is a natural scenic area where paper lanterns from each town are used to decorate a number of floats that partake in the festival. Come evening, there is a large fireworks display with Shiroyama mountain as a back drop, and the tens of thousands of lights from the lantern floats reflecting on the river are an amazing sight to see.
