毎年2月6日に開催される熊野御燈祭は、西暦574年が始まりと伝えられています。ご神体「ゴトビキ岩」のある神倉神社の例祭で、白装束に身を包んだ上り子と呼ばれる参加者（男性のみ）約2千人が手に松明を持ち、538段の石段を一気に駆け下りるという迫力で、県の無形民俗文化財に指定されています。

It is told that Kumano Oto Festival which is held on February 6th every year started in 574. It is an annual festival held at Kamikura Shrine that have "Gotobiki rock" as the object en-shrined, and 2,000 participants (only male) called "Agariko" run down 538 stone steps. It is registered as an Intangible Folk Cultural Assets by Wakayama prefecture.
