元々は1992年に、北海道大学の学生を中心に開催した、高知県の「よさこい祭り」と北海道の「ソーラン節」を融合させたお祭り。
今では毎年およそ200万人の人が訪れる。期間中は札幌市内のステージや街中など至る所で、ソーラン節を取り入れた踊りを目にすることが出来る。

Originally was started in 1992 by students of the Hokkaido University, as a mix of Kochi's YOSAKOI festival and Hokkaido's Soran rhythm.
There are now approximately 2 million visitors annually. During the festivities, you are able to witness stages all over Sapporo, where Soran rhythm dances can be seen.
