初日は那覇市の中心部に位置する国際通りにおいて、各種サークル・地域団体・伝統芸能保存会による「市民演芸・民俗伝統芸能パレード」が催され、およそ５０団体が華麗な演舞を繰り広げます。
２日目は、勇壮な旗頭行列が国際通りを練り歩き、ギネス認定を受けた世界一の大綱挽が、国道58号線久茂地交差点を中心に盛大に行われます。
旗頭が舞う中、年齢、性別、国籍を問わず数万の人々が一体となって綱を引き合う様は、まさに圧巻です。
