青梅市納涼花火大会では、１尺５寸玉（15号玉）の花火が地上約400メートルまで打ち上げられ、直径約 400メートルの花が開きます。 火の粉が降りかかってくるのではないかと思われるほど大迫力で、あたりは衝撃さえ感じる大音響につつまれます。
また、青梅の花火の代名詞、大会中盤に見られる永山大照明は他の花火大会では見かけない変り種で、メイン会場正面、永山丘陵ハイキングコース上に設置された地上花火に点火されると、一瞬にして丘陵の木々が夕闇 に浮かび上がり、幻想的な風景をつくりだします。

At Oume Noryo Fireworks Festival foot long fireworks are sent 1300 feet into the air, creating firework flowers that has 400m diameter. Not only that, but you can see the Nagayama illumination during the display, a novelty which you can’t see at any other fireworks displays. Fireworks on the ground light up the entrance and lead you up the hiking trail, illuminating the trees on the hill in the dusk, creating a fantastic scene.
