国の選択無形民俗文化財になっている大分県姫島に伝わる盆踊りまつりです。鎌倉時代の念仏踊りから発展したと言われる踊りは、アヤ踊り、キツネ踊り、猿丸太夫、銭太鼓などの伝統的なものから、毎年作られる創作踊りなど、1度の祭りで50種以上の踊りが披露されます。

This Bon Odori festival in Himejima in Oita Prefecture was selected as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. It is believed that the dances performed at the festival have been around since the Kamakura period. These dances include traditional dances such as the aya dance, kitsune fox dance, sarumaru dayu, and zenidaiko percussion performance. Every year brings creative dances as more than 50 different dances are performed.
