深谷まつりは、深谷城内にあった、三社天王（弁財天・大黒天・牛頭天王）を、天和元年（１６８１年）に立町（現在の相生町）に移し、八坂神社と改称して始まった「八坂まつり」が起源としており、三百有余年の歴史ある祭りです。
まつりの見どころは、十数町会による昼のみこしパレードで、猛暑になりやすい深谷という土地柄、夏のみこしに水をかける風習があります。みこしを担ぐ沿道には大量の水が用意されています。
The Fukaya Festival is a 300-year-old festival began as a “Yasaka Festival” in 1681 after the three deities of Tenno (Saraswati, Mahakala, and Gozu Tenno) which used to be inside Fukaya castle moved to Tachimachi (currently known as Aioi-cho) from Yasaka Shrine.
The main attraction of the festival is the portable shrine parade at noon. Because of the time of year and location, Fukaya tends to be incredibly hot, so it is customary to pour water over the shrines as they parade. A lot of water is prepared by the roads where the shrines are being carried.
