沖波大漁祭は海の安全と大漁を祈って続けられている祭りです。初日は花火が打ち上げられ５本のキリコが鐘や太鼓に囃されて町中を練り歩きながら恵比寿神社に向かいます。そして夜中の３時過ぎまでキリコ乱舞が行われます。そして二日目には海中へキリコを担ぎ込み、諏訪神社の神様が海から漂着してきたということから、キリコが海中に入って禊を行うという意味で勇壮に暴れ回ります。

The Okinami Tairyo Festival is held so that safe sea travel and good harvests of fish will continue. The first day has a fireworks display, while 5 kiriko lantern floats parade through town to Ebisu Shrine accompanied by bells and drums. It’s said that the God of Suwa Shrine is washed ashore from the sea, so people carry kiriko lantern floats into the sea and rampage around on the second day for the purification ceremony.
