400年を超える歴史があると言われる伝統的な踊りを踊るお祭りで、１０種類ある踊りのすべてが国の重要無形文化財に指定されています。
夏の祭期間中、会場を一晩一晩変えながら約30夜開催され。そのうち8月13日〜16日の４日間は盂蘭盆会（徹夜踊り）と呼ばれ、翌朝まで踊り明かすのが特徴となっています。

A festival where participants dance a traditional dance that is said to be told down for over 400 years, and each of the 10 dances is registered as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.
The event is held for 30 day every night at different venues during the summer festive peri-od. And during period of 4 days between 8/13 and 8/16, the Urabon-e (all-night dance) is held where they dance till the sun rises the next morning.
