江戸時代の寛永9年、国替えで松平主殿頭忠房が刈谷城主になったときに始められたという歴史ある伝統行事。「奴のねり」（市無形民俗文化財）も加わり市内の中心部を練り歩きます。また、山車祭も同時開催され、豪華で優美な肴町及び新町の山車（市有形民俗文化財）の曳き回しが行われます。
※次回開催は2018年5月開催予定

A traditional ritual that is said to have started in 1632 during the Edo period when the leader of a fief was changed to Matsudaira Tonomonokami Tadafusa to become the Lord of the Kariya Castle. Yakkononeri, a Municipal Intangible Folk Cultural Asset, was added to parade around downtown. A Dashi (float) festival is held at the same time, and the splendid and elegant floats (a municipal tangible folk cultural asset) are paraded around town.
The next festival is planned to be held in May of 2018.
