桂沢湖は複雑な湖岸線を持つ人造湖で、全体が大きな谷状の地形となっており、10月上旬から中旬にかけての紅葉の季節には見事な色彩が湖を囲み湖面に映しこまれます。美しい風景を楽しみながら、様々なイベントを楽しもうというのが「みかさ桂沢紅葉まつり」。名物「紅葉まんじゅう」撒きや特産品輪投げ大会キッズダンスショー、歌謡ショーなど次々と繰り広げられるプログラムに歓声が絶えません。ヤマベの塩焼きなど秋の味覚コーナーも充実しています。
