見どころは赤鬼が天狗に挑む「からかい」。荒ぶる神の赤鬼が、具足に身を固めた武神の天狗をからかうユーモラスな神事で、敗れた赤鬼は境内を出て町内をかけまわり、道行く人にタンキリ飴をふりまきます。この飴を食べると厄除けになり、夏病みしないと伝えられています。
The highlight is where the Akaoni challenges the Tengu by Karakai (teasing). A humorous ritual where the savage god Akaoni teases the fully armored warrior god Tengu. And the Akaoni that loses leaves the shrine grounds and runs around town, throwing Tankiri candy at spectators. It is told that by eating this candy you ward off evil, and will not get sick during the summer.
