5月のさわやかな大門カイトパークの大空に、色鮮やかな凧の群れが舞いあがります。富山県内はもとより、全国、そして世界から多数の人々が集まり、凧を通してふれあい、楽しむことができるイベントです。「凧まつり」の起源は1979年5月の「国際児童年」を記念し、子どもの健やかな成長を願って町の主催で行われたとあります。子ども凧あげや全国有名凧あげ競技などが行われ、巧みな手さばきで操られる凧を見ようと多くの人で賑わい、個性豊かなたくさんの凧が庄川の大空を鮮やかに彩ります。

Group of brilliant kites fly high in the sky of balmy Daimon Kate Park in May. In this event, many people come from Toyama prefecture, and all parts of the country and even all over the world to communicate and enjoy kites. "Kite festival" started in May 1979 to commemorate "the International Year of the Child" and it wishes for vigorous growth of children hosted by the town. There are kite flying events for children and nationally famous kites flying competitions. Many people come to see the kites controlled by skillful handling technique and many very unique kites brightly color the sky of Sho River.
