白装束の若者たちが青竹を一斉に神社境内や拝殿に叩きつけて割りつくし、大蛇にみたてた大縄を川へ投げ込む、という大蛇退治の伝説に基づくこの勇壮な奇祭

This brave and strange festival based on a legend of a big snake conquest, by young men in white clothing hitting and smashing young bamboos against Shrine ground and worship halls at once and throwing the big rope which is used to resemble the giant snake.
