永平寺燈籠ながしは九頭竜川の永平寺河川公園で行われる永平寺町の夏の風物詩です。永平寺の雲衲衆約120名による読経の後、先人への感謝と供養の意を込めて九頭竜川に約1万個の燈籠が流されます。川面にいくつもの光の帯をつくる光景は、燈籠ながしとしては国内最大級でその光景は心に残る夜景として日本夜景遺産の「歴史文化遺産」に認定されました。クライマックスには、色とりどりの花火が夜空を染めていきます。

The Eiheiji Lantern Floating festival is a summer tradition in Eiheiji-cho and is held in the Eiheiji River Park in Kuzuryu. It is Japan’s largest class lantern floating festival and the night’s scenery been designated a “historic and cultural heritage” of Japan. The view of the night will forever remain in your heart. The climax of the festival is the fireworks display which lights up the night sky in a rainbow of colors.
